What do I need to know?
For some cases heard in Melbourne, you can find records by searching for the surname of the debtor in the search box below.
The records are being indexed by PROV volunteers for easy searching and will eventually cover approximately 1842 – 1928 (completed so far: 1842 – 1871). Until the project is complete, if your a search is unsuccessful, use the insolvency indexes and registers option to find the case number for the insolvency hearing.

Insolvency case records (Record Series 759, 762, 765 and 10246) contain records including:
- insolvent's statement
- proof of debts submitted by creditors
- statement of assets and receipts
- statement of disbursements and unrealised estate
- order of appointment for certificate of discharge
