These records are retained permanently due to the lack of any other apprenticeship and employer details for the time period. The records within this series have been identified as permanent in the Disposal Schedule for Department of Education-Apprenticeship and Traineeship Records (PROS 96/21).
The records within this series constitute the best available record for the period 1976 to 1990. They are the basis on which Certificates of Completion and Extracts are issued.
The reports contain information such as a listing of apprentices by registration number and alphabetically by surname and a listing of employers by registration number.

Researchers should scan the records description list to locate the particular report they require.
Recordkeeping system
The listing is arranged alphabetically by the name of organisation that created the report and for each of these organisations the reports are arranged chronologically according to the date(s) each report covers.For the period prior to 1976 researchers should consult VPRS 11538 Apprentice History Cards which act as a register of Apprenticeship and Traineeship.
As at September 1998 records post 1990 are not in the custody of the Public Record Office Victoria. For records from this period researchers should contact the State Training Board.
