    SPECIAL NOTE: Users wishing to use this series to obtain a trading company registration number should first consult either VPRS 8267 or VPRS 8268.

    This series was created as a master manual index to registered trading companies. As a result, it provides a means of entry into both VPRS 932 Trading Company Registration Files and VPRS 8269 Register of Trading Companies.

    The series was apparently an attempt to create an alphabetical index covering all trading companies with registrations current at the time of creation. Most of the entries were typewritten with a handful of handwritten entries. These latter entries appearing to be late additions of companies missed in the original compilation of the index.

    This is therefore not a complete index to registered trading companies, the first of which were registered in 1864. Based on a analysis of numbers found in the index, it is estimated that the index was created around 1941. The exact date range of trading company registrations covered by this index is subject to further research.

    Entries detail the trading company name and trading company number.

    The pages of this index are generally in an extremely fragile condition. Researchers wishing to obtain a trading company number are therefore requested to first consult VPRS 8268 which indexes the same number for all defunct trading company registrations prior to the end of August 1990 or VPRS 8267 which indexes numbers for those trading company registrations still current at the end of that same time.
