    This series is a summary history of the financial operations of the Melbourne and Metropolitan Tramays Board (VA 2694) between the years of 1916 and 1954. It is thought that most of the information recorded in the nearly identical volumes of this series was written in a short time frame, 1951 to 1954. The section headings, their related information and the incorporated financial figures appear to be copied from M.M.T.B. Annual Reports.

    The types of information included in the volumes are; records of capital outlay, acquisitions, investments, various financial summaries, construction costs, financial analysis, and a unique summary of the Tramway's development (Cable, Electric and Motor Omnibus), from 1920 to 1954.

    Unit 2 appears to have been copied at a time later than the creation of Unit 1. The contents date of Unit 2 is 1916 to 1954, whilst the contents date range of Unit 1 is 1916 to 1952. Unit 1, however, contains some sections not covered by Unit 2, and therefore has been retained despite the extensive duplication between the volumes. The sections unique to Unit 1 are:

    - Preston Depot Extension
    - Central Bus Garage
    - William Street - St. Kilda Road Tramway Connection
    - Latrobe Street Tramway

    At the back of Unit 2 there are a number of handwritten work schedules for the construction of M.M.T.B. Head Office (1937-1938), plus a preliminary architectural block plan of Footscray Depot and Bus Garage.
