  • How to use the Records
    ** Access Condition **

These records have been transferred to the Public Record Office Victoria under the condition that requests for access will be referred to the Clerk of the Legislative Council/Assembly for determination in each case. Applications should be made to the above officers and written approval must be presented at the Public Record Office Victoria search rooms before the records will be made available for public inspection.

  • Function / Content
These Minute Books of the Statute Law Revision Committee contain a record of the proceedings, discussions and decisions of the Committee as it considered various Bills or Acts. The volumes are arranged chronologically by the date of the sitting of the Committee. When a Bill was under consideration sittings appear to be on a daily basis.

The Minutes include details such as date, time open and time closed, as well as the names of the members present. The Committee is a two-house Committee with representatives from both the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly.

The Minutes of a particular meeting usually take up about a single page. The format changes slightly over the years commencing as hand written minutes and gradually evolving into a typed pro-forma style by c.1974.

Researchers should also refer to VPRS 7631 which are minutes of the same committee taken on behalf of the Legislative Council.
