  • How to use the Records
    Under the decentralisation policies of the Victorian government, companies could apply for approval as an ADSI (Approved Decentralised Secondary Industry) which entitled them to gain certain subsidies and rebates. When an ADSI was approved, it was issued with a certificate which could later be cancelled or withdrawn if circumstances changed.

    Schedules of the certificates were compiled in differing formats and according to different legislative requirements. These schedules were usually in certificate number order.

    This series is a listing of ADSI in company name, order. It is labelled as being a `working copy' `Not for General Distribution', and it is not apparent if lists for previous or subsequent years were produced. However, it is a cumulative list with certificates issued in 1964 being listed. Therefore, in the absence of evidence of other versions of the list, it has been treated as a one-off item.

    The list consists of papers held together by spirex binding with a front and back cover. Each page is divided into columns headed; Name of Firm; Address; Town; Type of Industry; Total Employment; Certificate Number; Date of Approval.

    The cover has the title `Division of Industrial Development - Approved Decentralised Secondary Industries - Alphabetical Listing' and the date, August, 1973.
