    If the number of the special case file is known, simply consult the Consignment Details for VPRS 892 to obtain the unit (box) number for the file. If the file number is not known, please consult this index by the teacher's name, file title or school name to gain the relevant file number.

  • Function / Content
    This series was created to index the Special Case Files (VPRS 892) created by the Education Department and its predecessors and to aid the retrieval of files by officers of the department.

    In this volume school names and file titles were recorded within alphabetical sections together with the names of the parties involved or the subject of the special case and the file number and the page number in the Register of Special Cases (VPRS 5676) on which the registration details of the file were recorded.

    This series appears to have been created in about 1882.

    The first 20 years of files were indexed at this point and all subsequent files were indexed chronologically within alphabetical sections.

  • Recordkeeping System
    The index was arranged in rough alphabetical order by file title, teacher's name, or school name.
