    Scan the Records Description List to identify units of interest.

    Function / Content

    This series consists of correspondence relating to Reference Inquiries. The majority of the files relate to genealogical enquiries.

  • Recordkeeping System
    The files are segregated into two categories of inquiry: Shipping and General.

    There are three sequences of shipping files:

    Units 1 to 5 contain shipping inquiries chronologically from pre 1968 to December 1973

    Units 6 to 10 contain shipping inquiries arranged chronologically within alphabetical sequences and surname of correspondent e.g. November 1974 - May 1975 A-D

    Units 16 to 20 contain shipping inquiries for 1976 arranged in alphabetical sequences.

    There are two sequences of general files:

    Units 11 to 15 contain general inquiries received from 1954 to 1973; and

    Unit 21 contains general correspondence for 1976

    Units 22 to 32 contain correspondence arranged chronologically within alphabetical sequences by surname of correspondent e.g. Unit 22 contains correspondence for 1977 from correspondents whose surnames began with A to G.
