  • How to use the Records
    These files are arranged in donor code-number order, A1, A2, etc., B1, B2, etc., that is, alpha-numeric order. Researchers should refer to the Consignment Details to identify the file required.

  • Function / Content
    These files contain non-identifying information about sperm donors; they do not contain the names of sperm donors.

    Information on the files included: physical characteristics of the donor, pathology test results, and a copy of the donor statement (about his health in general), marital status, number of children, and consent as a donor.

    Under the Infertility (Medical Procedures) Act 1984 donors had the right to anonymity though they were also able to consent to contact by offspring.

  • Recordkeeping System
    Files are arranged in alphanumberic code number order, A1, A2 etc., B1, B2 etc. Donors can be identified by referring to VPRS 14967 Index to Sperm Donor Records, Alpha-numeric System, in which codes can be matched with names.
