  • How to use the Records
    Researchers should consult the Consignment Details for this series to identify the unit(s) that contain the surnames of the teacher(s) they require. The first and last card in each unit is recorded against the unit description.

    Researchers may alternatively use VPRS 13719 Database Index to Teacher Record Books to determine a teacher's record number.

  • Function / Content
    This series was created to provide access to VPRS 13579 Teacher Record Books (also available on microfilm, VPRS 13718). The series was created from c.1930 - c.1959, however it retrospectively provides access to entries in the Teacher Record Books from 1863 - 1959.

    The records contain the name of the teacher, their record number and the relevant record book number. It may also include a second number annotated E.M or Educ Mig. This relates to VPRS 13970 Education of Migrants Record Books. A number with a PR prefix indicates the officer's record is in VPRS 14440 Register of Professional Officers rather than the Teacher Record Books.
