    This is an artificially created series comprising several sequences of alphabetically and numerically arranged cards of tramway and bus employees.

    The cards that now make up this series summarised the employment history of tramway and bus employees including drivers, conductors, office and clerical staff and vacation students for the period ?1910 to 1983.

    The information recorded includes:

    -- Name and occupation of the employee
    -- Date of birth
    -- Date of appointment and resignation.

  • Recordkeeping System
    Further research is required to document the record keeping systems in which the various sequences of cards were involved.

    Consignments of this series have been made up as follows:

    The P0001 to P0005 and P0012 to P0013 consignments comprise several sequences of cards for tramways and bus employees including

    -- General 1920 to 1974
    -- General and Traffic 1974 to 1980
    -- Office and Clerical 1978 and
    -- Vacation Students 1970 to 1976.

    The P0006 and P0007 consignments contain alphabetically arranged cards of tramways conductors and drivers.

    The P0008 and P0009 consignments contain numerically arranged cards of tramways conductors and drivers.

    The P0010 and P0011 consignments contain an alphabetically arranged sequence and a numerically arranged sequence of cards of tramways conductresses employed during the Second World War.

    The cards in the P0006 to P0011 consignments do not provide a complete service history. Some cards only record the name of the employee.
