  • How to use the Records
    The cards were arranged alphabetically by the surnames of employees. Refer to the Consignment Details and identify the appropriate unit.

  • Function / Content
    The series summarised the employment history of employees who were stationed at the Preston Electrical Workshops/Depots, Department of Engineering during the period ?1965 to 1993. Sick leave cards are attached to the history cards for some employees.

    The information recorded includes:
    - Name of the employee
    - Date of birth
    - Date of appointment
    - Designation and salary (electrical fitter, mechanic, welder, junior clerk, body maker, watchman or boiler maker)
    - Other information (date of permanent appointment, date of death, resignation, etc.).

  • Recordkeeping System
    The record cards were arranged alphabetically by the surnames of employees.
