  • Function / Content
    The Port Phillip Sea Pilots were formed, originally as companies under the overall regulation of VA 4179 Pilot Board of Victoria and, from 1888, VA 1424 Marine Board.

    This series consists of miscellaneous inward and carbon copies of outward correspondence of the Port Phillip Sea Pilots (Port Phillip Pilot Service). The correspondence also contains some few estrays from the inward correspondence of the Pilot Board of Victoria (see VPRS 562). Correspondence concerns mainly administrative and organisational matters to do with the provision of pilot services and the administration of the Service.

  • Recordkeeping System
    Original systems of arrangement and control have not survived. The records are arranged as found at the time of re-serialisation from VPRS 562/P in 2003.
