  • Recordkeeping System
    This series comprises miscellaneous records of the Mines Department (VA 2719), the Victorian Water Supply Department (VA 2787) and the State Rivers and Water Supply Commission (VA 723).

    The P consignment comprises Government Gazette cuttings and a number of accounting records. The possibility that the accounting records might be related to other accounting records in custody, such as VPRS 369 Irrigation and Water Supply Trust Ledgers and VPRS 370 Waterworks Trusts Records, has not been researched by the Public Record Office.

    The P1 consignment was transferred to the Public Record Office from the Rural Water Corporations library. Other records which were transferred at the same time were identified, described and registered as consignments of twenty-eight Victorian Public Record Series. Records in the P1 consignment of this series, however, could not be identified and so were made into a consignment of miscellaneous records.

    The P1 consignment includes:-

    * A3-size loose leaf pages which appear to comprise portion of a register of Notices to Treat. Entries relating to several localities are included. There is a bundle for each locality. The date range of the records in custody is about 1952 to about 1966.

    * Three folders of maps showing channels and other water-related features. The maps refer to the Bacchus Marsh Irrigation District and various localities near the River Murray. The date range is about 1953 to about 1971.

    * One volume of a register of Acquisitions of Land for Major Works. The date range is 1967 to 1969.

    * Three foolscap volumes relating to the purchase and sale of lands. The date ranges are from 1888 to about 1948.

    Many of the records in the P1 consignment include references to Notices to Treat, and it is possible that they are related to VPRS 11189 Registers of Notices to Treat. However, this has not been researched by the Public Record Office.

    The P1 consignment of this series was transferred to the Public Record Office, unlisted, in consignment SR17 of VPRS 9484 Unserialised Records.
