Description of this GroupDescription of this Group
Following significant machinery of government changes following the election of the Kennett Government in October 1992, a portfolio for Tertiary Education and Training was established with the appointment of a Minister for Tertiary Education and Training.

Under Administrative Arrangements Order Number 114 (Victorian Government Gazette No. S 53, 9 October 1992), the Minister for Tertiary Education and Training was assigned all acts previously the responsibility of the Minister for Employment, Post-Secondary Education and Training.

Excluding Sections 8(c) and 15 where they relate to the Victorian Technology Advisory Committee; and Section 17 (these provisions were administered by the Minister for Industry Services)

In 1999, following machinery of government changes after the election of the Bracks Government, the portfolio of Tertiary Education and Training was abolished. It was replaced with the portfolio of Post Compulsory Education, Training and Employment (VRG 161). This portfolio was assigned all Acts of the former Minister for Tertiary Education and Training as part of Administrative Arrangements Order No. 159, published in the Victorian Government Gazette No. S 159, 29 October 1999.
