The Victorian Government appointed an Inquiry Committee in 1976 to undertake an enquiry into the operations of the State Rivers and Water Supply Commissions in the Goulburn-Murray Irrigation District.
The inquiry involved the investigation of :
the nature, extent, cost, efficiency, and adequacy of existing services.
costs of works and possible measures to effect economics, including the feasibility of additional contract work.
operational and accounting systems and methods having regard to technology and management aids then available.
organisational, administrative and staffing arrangements in the District consistent with adequate levels of services, including supervision and training of personnel.
The Committee submitted its report in 1977.
